Between Sacred and Pagan
The excursion “Between Sacred and Pagan” accompanies us on a visit to the historical, Christian and non-Christian finds of the Trinità area.
The first historical testimony that we are going to visit is the Nuraghe Bastianazzu: it rises near the sea on top of a hill, it enjoys a wide panoramic view, which suggests a past sighting function. It has an almost elliptical shape.
Along the way we will then meet the Domus De Janas attributable to the recent Neolithic, it is dug into the hard reddish granite rock typical of the area and is composed of two rooms with a single entrance facing south.
Nearby stands the Aragonese Tower, built around 1595 to defend the coast from Saracen raids. It has a truncated cone shape, with a diameter at the base of over 14 meters and it is 11 and a half high. Much more recent and much loved by the locals is La Madonnina which in May 1955 was carried in procession on Mount Santa Barbara overlooking Trinità.
During the “Between Sacred and Pagan” excursion there will be a refreshment point at the restaurant “Da Paolino” in Trinità.
