The freshwater

During the “Freshwater” excursion we will visit Lake Coghinas which is an artificial basin created in 1927 by the damming of the river of the same name at the narrow Muzzone, formed by the Limbara gorges.
The lake is located in the Monte Acuto area and is part of a natural environment characterized by Mediterranean scrub, holm oak and cork oak woods.
An ideal habitat that has generated a rich ecosystem with numerous species of birds and aquatic fauna, a source of attraction for bird watchers and nature lovers.
Along the route, a visit to the Santa Maria Coghinas waterfall is also planned.
It is a splendid waterfall of about 20 meters that creates a small lake surrounded by luxuriant and wild nature, a pleasant and beautiful place even in summer when the waterfall is not there due to lack of rain.
During the “Freshwater” excursion you will stay in B&Bs and/or farmhouses located along the route, where you will also find various refreshment points.
