To the Moon and beyond
The “To the Moon and beyond” excursion starts from Aggius, an ancient village that is part of the “Authentic villages of Italy” and has obtained the “Orange Flag” reward.
Known for its characteristic historic centre, it lies at the foot of a granite ridge at 514 meters above sea level. From here you reach the Valle della Luna, a flat but uneven expanse, in harmony with the morphology of the surrounding Gallura plateau.
Granite mountains can be observed, with original shapes, modeled by the Mistral wind and by the bad weather, which can now be visited thanks to paths and trails, which allow them to be climbed. In these places we find the most significant traces of the first human settlements.
The colors and scents of Gallura are the masters and give the landscape a wild and unique look.
All these elements give the environment a suggestive, unique and spectacular appearance.
The “To the Moon and beyond” excursion continues towards the Alberu di La Rasgioni, a centuries-old holm oak included in the list of monumental trees of Italy which rises at an altitude of 523 m on the mountains of La Cilata.
